Nancy Jean Guerrero (b. 1998) is an artist living and working in San Francisco, CA. Raised in California’s Central Valley, they first turned to painting as a way to express emotion and escape the heat. Their practice has since evolved into a focused exploration of beadwork, used to portray the complexities of mental illness, memory, and obsession.
Nancy earned their BFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2020. Their work has been juried into The de Young Open (2020, 2023), featured in online exhibitions with Susan Eley Fine Art, and shown in galleries throughout the Bay Area. They have completed a residency at Anderson Ranch Arts Center and were recently awarded a fellowship to attend the Vermont Studio Center.
They are currently developing a comprehensive series of beadwork embroidery and sculptural works that delve into their family’s history of generational mental illness.
